Starbucks Basket Giveaway-CLOSED

Glitter Text Generator

When I put this basket together I added things that I would want to get in a basket. There is just something about getting a beautiful basket with things you love to have filled inside. The winner will receive this Basket with two .25 pounds of coffee, French Roast and Breakfast Blend, Two Coffee cups, A tin filled with Pirouline hazelnut cookie sticks, 3 mini signs and a $10 dollar gift card to Starbucks. This is actually a basket I would love to have myself so I know the winner will enjoy it. The reason for putting this giveaway together is to bring awareness to World Vision. World Vision is a Mission organization with the mission to inspire others to help them fight Poverty. I just recently read and reviewed the Book The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns and since reading this book I have a new mission of my own. What I learned from this book is that every person counts. Every little bit helps and what ever I can do to help is what I am going to do. The facts are that, when we sit down just to eat our dinner, it takes about 20 minutes for everyone to finish and in that 20 minute time frame 300 children have died around the world. That's approx 1 child every 4 seconds, 26,000 today and approx 10 million this year. These numbers are unacceptable and tragically fact not fiction. Pandemic issues arrive often from the bird flu to the swine flu and in all actuality there is already a pandemic that has spread world wide and continues to grow. Its called poverty and we as Americans and the human race should be trying to stop this pandemic from spreading and hopefully eradicating it all together. A Pandemic means having widespread effect: existing in the form of a widespread epidemic that affects people in many different countries.
AIDS is currently considered to be pandemic along with poverty. When 10 million people including children, their mothers and the head of household are dying because they cant feed there families or have the medicines and clean water to exist, we would call this a pandemic. In America approx. 35 million people are on the brink of hunger including 12 million of them children. The difference with America and third world countries is that we do have a government that is concerned about this and that we have people willing to put organizations together to help families in need of food, we also have the state we live in help with Tanif. Allowing Americans in need to get help when they are down.
My own story of kind people helping those that need help referring back to my last blog. I recently took my kids to have dental work done and two of my girls are Autistic and my five year old has developmental delays when it comes to breathing and swallowing at the same time. Because of this she pockets her food in her cheeks and has caused decay throughout her entire mouth,. The remaining bill in over 2300 dollars and my own teeth have had to wait. I went to the dentist because one tooth I have has abscessed and the infection has made a pimple of infection along my gum line. This Dentist made the difference for me, knowing that my funds are limited he sent me down to Well Springs which is a charitable organization in my town. I went there and told him my story and the trouble I am having with being able to fix my teeth. Come to find out my Dentist is Head of the Board at this organization and that he will be fixing my teeth including dentures and charging me nothing. I was so taken back by his kindness and sincerity to help me in my time of need, I started crying. It was this moment that made me realize that even I can make a difference for someone else that is less off then I myself and paying if forward is what we should be doing as the human race. Showing Gods love by giving is preaching the Gospel and just for information Gospel means: The Good News and the Good news is that God loves us and wants us to spend eternity in heaven with him.

  13. Poverty is linked so closely with child mortality. One statistic I found on the site was:
Reducing malnutrition among children under age 5 in poor countries can decrease child mortality by 20 percent.

I know that losing a child is a horrible, heart wrenching experience (I have had to bury a child). If there are wayt to prevent this pain to both the child who passes and the families who lose them. We as a human race should ban together and do something!!

I follow your site, and thank you for the eye opening posts.

  31. I follow publicly and I learned from the World Vision site was in conflict-torn northwest Pakistan, some 2 million displaced civilians are beginning to return to their homes. World Vision remains focused on the needs and safety of vulnerable children and families who have been affected by the violence. I had no idea how many people were displaced and it saddens my heart.

  33. I follow.

I learned that in Armenia poverty caused by the weakened economy, coupled with a large number of school closings, has prevented 80 percent of children from attending kindergarten. Attendance rates for primary and secondary school are higher than many former Soviet republics, but studies have shown nearly a quarter of all children drop out by grade 10.

And I visted World Vision and learned that An estimated 907 million people who are hungry are in developing countries ( — that's more than the population of the European Union, the United States, and Canada combined. The World Food Program says that about 75 percent of all hungry people live in rural areas, primarily Africa or Asia! And that is cool that you can give a goat to help out!

  46. I just started following you publicly. I was curious what World Vision had to say about Mali, West Africa since I was there last October. The poverty was very obvious over there! World Vision says, "The country is plagued by frequent drought and insufficient food supplies, and 64 percent of the people live below the poverty line." It's really hard to see this level of poverty in person and it makes you realize how much we really have in our daily lives.

  49. I follow you. And I know you said in your review that 35 million Americans are on the brink of poverty but I think this number puts it a little more into perspective, for me anyway. Nearly 10%!! of America lives below the poverty line. In short, 1 person in 10. That's a pretty sad number. It makes me want to do what I can to help!
